Dear diary,

assalamolaikom wr wb.

Just got done with the online classes, and had a mini takrar session (Revision session) with classmates. Now, I think I have an hour for myself and thought I should write to you.

Well, you know the hajj is about to come  very soon, and I am going to feel very nostalgic again as days are going to come nearer. Last year, Alhamdolilah summa alhamdolilah, Allah gave us the opportunity to be in the blessed land of Arafah on the 9th of Zilhajj and gave us the opportunity to perform hajj.  May Allah accept it. Ameen

My husband and I often try to cherish the times that we had for hajj. Its one of the most unforgettable journey we have had. Its a journey of love.

I remember myself looking up online when we were preparing to go for the journey last year. I watched some videos and googled some stuff as well. And I made a list of things we needed to carry on the 5 days of hajj. Obviously, there are lots of websites that will tell us how to prepare ourselves physcially (what stuff to carry). However, after a few days, I realized that what I needed to work on more was   how to prepare myself emotionally and mentally.

What I mean is that, we may get information from different sources as to wearing  abaya  that is of light material because its quite hot and dry overy there, carrying slippers bag with us while entering masjid al haram, etc. But in the process, we forget the most important part. How to feel when we are about to enter Makkah, when we enter Masjid al haram, when we are about to start tawaf? etc  In this respect, I found some audios at www.tasawwuf.org and www.islamicspirituality.org very benefecial

After last year, I realized  that no matter, how much I tried to be prepared before hand, there were always always things which came unexpectedly. I realized it then, that preparing with material things is not the key. Preparing ourselves mentally for such shortcomings in our preparation is the key. And we simultaneously have to realize that, meanwhile the worldy asbaab happen, it is Allah who is making the events happen so we dont have to let go of that emotional bond with Allah SWT.

I think I will just end here and write the next part on the hajj series inshaAllah very soon again. I am also thinking to share the list of things we carried, just in case if anybody needs them. Meanwhile, you can listen to the audios    and prepare yourself emotionally for the beautiful journey.  Here are the links:
